UniCarriers Reenergise TCM as European Dealer Brand

Toyo Carrier Manufacturing, known as TCM are a leading name in the forklift industry, having established themselves in 1949 in Japan. Since that time, the brand has gone from strength to strength and now boasts production plants in the US, Japan, Spain and Sweden, with a global marketing network that covers North and South America, Europe and Asia. In 2011, UniCarriers was created as a result of a merger between TCM, Nissan Forklift and Atlet, and the company’s main headquarters are situated in Tokyo, with their European base located in Meerbusch, near Dusseldorf.

The Uni Carriers Impact

Despite this already enormous influence that UniCarriers have in the industry, they are looking to expand their TCM arm by rebranding it as a European dealer. Their reputation for making superb quality forklifts means that there has been an increasing demand for their machines in Europe, and this move is designed to satisfy this demand. The first country to benefit from this move will be Great Britain, with TCM forklifts being rolled out to other countries on a gradual basis.

The sales of TCM forklifts in Europe will be managed by the aforementioned extensive marketing network, dealers and distributors. UniCarriers’ main customers are businesses in the automotive, construction, electronics, food, logistics and pharmaceutical sectors, with custom also coming from heavy engineering companies and processing businesses. This custom has served UniCarriers incredibly well, with the company posting a turnover of over 1.3 billion Euros in 2013.

Nobuo Yoh, UniCarriers’ CEO and the president of UniCarriers Europe GmbH said of the move: “Because of its high recognition and the great confidence of customers in TCM equipment, we have now decided to revive the name in Europe as a dealer brand.”

UniCarriers manufactures a large range of trucks with load capacities of 350 to 10,000kg, making them perfect for a variety of sectors and uses, as seen by the aforementioned list of their main customers. The machines they make are individually customisable, manufactured in their production plants across the world. Employing 5208 people worldwide as of December 2013, UniCarriers is a company that is growing with each passing year thanks to their commitment to innovation and quality in their products.
